During the summer of 2000, ten Dot Art students were commissioned by the Suffolk County District Attorney's office to create an 8 ft x 24 ft painting to commemorate the life of slain Prosecutor Paul McLaughlin. Working with Paul's colleagues and Dorchester Artist and Dot Art Director, Liz Carney, the students created a colorful tribute to Paul's life in which the city streets and the courtroom become one world and the viewer is invited into the painting through the poignient metaphor of "passing the bar". The painting now hangs in downtown Boston at the DA's Gang unit office. It has become an important part of many prosecutors tenure at the Suffolk DA's office and as lawyers move on to other positions in their legal career, it is often the custom to take a print of this painting with them. Dot Art is proud to have been a part of this important work of art.
